Join us for the 3rd annual Plein Air Painting festival. This “In the Open Air” painting festival was a great success last year, so be sure to mark your calendars! Come and see the competitors as their paintings develop on Friday and Saturday! Then all completed paintings will be displayed for the public on Sunday . Book your reservation for the festival luncheon where the winners will be announced.
For those who are new to the event, it celebrates artwork created “en plein air,” meaning literally “in the open air.” This style of painting originated in Europe near the end of the 19th century, when artists left their studios to paint what they saw in the great outdoors! Devotees believe that painting on site, in natural light, produces luminous paintings of unparalleled quality and beauty.
During the competition, come rain or shine, up to fifty participating artists from across the Lower mainland will be painting around the Historic Site. Artists will capture breathtaking historic vistas, 1920s farm equipment, historic buildings, lush gardens & orchards, delightful farm animals, and surrounding mountains of our uniquely beautiful region.
The festival will culminate in an award ceremony at the 1 pm Sunday luncheon. Winners of the People’s Choice and other categories will be announced following the Luncheon. The sale of paintings will occur throughout the afternoon on Sunday until 3 pm. Throughout the day on Sunday enjoy live music.
